One of the most frustrating and crucial parts of the home decoration is picking out wall art. Choosing a piece of art that reflects your personality, interests, tastes, and getting it to fit in with the overall theme of your home is a monumental task. It only goes to figure that the hardest task of decorating your home is also the most important one. I`ve put together a few simple tricks and ideas that might make the chore of picking out wall art a little easier.
If you have an empty wall that`s driving you insane, the best thing you can do is to take some time and find some wall art that will look nice on it. The problem that most homeowners have is finding the piece that not only suits their taste but also matches their home. Finding the best art for your wall takes time, and some trial and error.
After you have decided upon a style of art that best fits you and your space, you will need to decide upon placement and display style. If you have a large open wall space, you will want to find some large pieces. For example, a large painting or photograph. You could also display a 3-panel triptych photograph or painting or a collection of art to fill a large wall space. For medium and small spaces you will want to pick wall art that won`t overwhelm the room or space. Small space, smaller art. Medium space, medium to small pieces of art.
Will the piece of wall art be a focal point, or do you plan to use it as an accent piece? If you want people to walk into the room and immediately notice the wall art, you`re going to want to choose a style that`s striking. If you`re looking for something that will make a wall feel a little less lonely, you should stick to quite pieces that blend into the room`s décor.
I mentioned Photographs before because photographs can easily tell your story. Color photographs are good in that you can easily match the colors to the rest of the room. Black and white photos always look good and will work with just about any decor. They can look modern or vintage.
Bring character to a boring wall. We all have those walls in our homes that are awkward and hard to fill and use. Many people will leave it blank and have no idea how to decorate it. Wall art can be a small collage of pictures or even framed art that your children have drawn. These are great ways to make an awkward wall look perfect and cohesive with the rest of the room. Art can even be decals that stick on the wall to bring a little fun to that space that seems to be empty.
It would be a terrible mistake to just pick wall art that matches your decor but that you personally don`t care for. Displaying wall art in your home is meant to tell a story about you and what you like. It should add quality and enjoyment to your life.
